ROUND TABLE

In Fall 2017, we introduced our round table series! Although we worked closely with our members during general meetings and events, we wanted to create a more interactive space for members to get to know each other and to engage in some meaningful discussions.

Our first round table was a really laid-back, come-and-go discussion! We encouraged members to bring their lunches and their friends, and we covered really diverse topics, from sharing about our own personal experiences to how mental health and mental illnesses are portrayed in popular culture.

Reflections

We received really good feedback and increased interest from our members, so for the Spring 2018 semester, we organized round tables every other week at a regular time. These discussions spanned  many topics, such as stress management, body positivity, cognitive behavioral therapy, and more. We encouraged members and anyone else from the student body to participate in fun activities and exercises, as well as open and honest conversations with each other.

Our round table series has been a great success, and we hope to continue it many years into the future! We are currently looking at incorporating new activities, such as showing a documentary or inviting guest speakers and counselors to these sessions, so let us know if you have any suggestions!
