The following list includes resources recommended by  Active Minds at UTD and the UTD Student Counseling Center for meditation as a way to improve mental health. These include instructional links, relaxation techniques, and technological supplements for such activities.

  • Stop, Breathe, and Think - Guide that explains the impact of stress as well as mindfulness on our body and brain. Includes meditations such as Mindful Walk, Body Scan, Engaging your senses, etc.

  • Calm - Guided meditations with your choice of background noise/natural environment

  • Breathe2Relax - Guided breathing exercises - Allows you to track stress and adjust inhale/exhale length during deep breathing exercises

  • Headspace - 10 days of 10-minute guided meditations

  • 7 Second Meditation: Daily Mindfulness Reminders - Creates phone reminders that provide affirmations and encourage breathing and mindfulness based on the time of the day when you need it most

  • Sattva - Guided meditations - Allows you to connect with friends and track overall time spent meditating

​Active Minds is a 501(c)(3) national non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness for mental illnesses across college campuses. Active Minds at UTD is one of four hundred chapters across the nation, open to all students, with the goal to raise awareness about issues surrounding mental health, remove stigma surrounding mental disorders to make students feel more comfortable, and provide an open environment for students and faculty to speak about mental health.
